What happens when 'whatever you think about, and thank about, you bring about'.

In the movie, The Secret one of the teachers used the phrase 'whatever you think about, and thank about, you bring about'. Its about manifestation and being grateful for an experience before it has happened.

I know that when some of you saw this title you immediately thought of Drake’s song “Emotionless” where he says :

“I know a girl whose one goal was to visit Rome

Then she finally got to Rome

And all she did was post pictures for people at home”

To burst your judgement bubble, The Unicorn Project covers EVERYTHING that makes life, which includes being nostalgic about a holiday that was truly a dream come true. After all, you can’t write about an experience before you’ve experienced it. Right?

Less than one week after I wrote my final end of year exam, myself and two friends (Alejandra and Jenna) made our way to Victoria Coach Station sometime after 9pm en route to Paris,France. In between my napping, the passport check, the Eurotunnel and the seven hour coach journey, I realised that the sun was coming up, and the billboards were written in Greek (actually they were written in French). When my phone vibrated with a message saying ‘Welcome to France’, as we say in St. Lucia ‘all sleep left my eyes’.

In these moments my heart got filled with gratitude because this Paris trip had been on my vision board, and I was still in amazement that something I prayed for and visualised, was actually happening.

“Therefore, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be yours.” – Mark 11:24

We got to the car park for arrivals, then made our way to ‘the church on the hill’. The journey to that church from the Metro was TOUGH. It was an endless mountain of steps (over 500 to be clear), but the view when we got to the top and the church itself were simply breath-taking ! Being true tourists, the three of us took it allllll in. We then got some breakfast and headed to our hostel, which I must say exceeded our expectations. After a nap (because napping is essential) we got ready for our next adventure – EIFFEL TOWER / TOUR EIFFEL !

We were casually walking then came to a corner and Alejandra turned to Jenna and me, telling us to look up. And there it was ! The apex of this famous site, and I couldn’t believe it.

Honestly, I was like ‘a kid in a candy store’, SUPER excited. On the way we stopped so I could get a caricature done, Jenna bought some roses and we even took some pictures for people. We spent so much time there, and took SO MANY PICTURES !

Fast forward to the next morning, because I don’t want this post to be a fifteen minute read. We got to Musee d’Lourve (The Lourve) or the place where the Mona Lisa is housed. This museum is just… WOW. Though seeing the Mona Lisa in person was phenomenal, and smaller than I expected, I was taken aback by the entire place ! Can you imagine spending three hours walking around a museum and still not seeing all the exhibits ?! (Don’t worry, I have some pictures instore for you soon). Im curious as to how they even got some of these paintings into The Lourve ! I MEAN SOME OF THESE WERE MASSIVE !

Next on the list was the clock museum, Musee d’Orsay. In this museum, many pieces by Vincent Van Gogh, including his self-portrait are housed. Then there’s the massive clock itself ! There was also an exhibition going on which we attended. It was about a difficult time in Lithuania and some of the paintings were so meticulously done, you truly felt the emotion of the artist.

Notre Dame Cathedral was our penultimate stop, and I will say this - no one warns you about the pigeons! Listennnnnn. Pigeons everywhere !!!! Like the church on the hill, architecture of Notre Dame was exceptional ! Again, being true tourists, we did the full walk through of the cathedral and again, pictures galore !

It was getting late and we had one last site on our agenda – The Moulin Rouge! I think we all have sung, at some point in our lives “Voulez vous coucher avec moi ce soir”. Alejandra recreated a photo her grandma took some years ago in the very spot, and after MANY attempts, I think we got it right ! Hey, maybe in the future, one of my grandchildren will recreate the photo I took in front of the Moulin Rouge !

After getting lost a few too many times, steps equating one month of cardio, overpriced food, buying paintings and other bits and bobs, strange smells, fascinating buildings and an experience I will never forget, our time in Paris was over *cue tiny violin music*

Seeing something that I had been visualising for a while come to life was so gratifying. I’ll be back, Paris

If you had a holiday destination on your vision board or bucket list, you’ve since experienced, I’d love to know !
